Greatest Ever Celt

At Celtic’s biggest night since Lisbon, this was the largest gathering of legends in this great club’s history. Through the club magazine Celtic View, website and official voting forms, fans picked their top teams, goals, games, foreign player and Captain.

The Lisbon Lions and the Celtic Elite mingled with fans in a celebration of everything good about Celtic looking back at some magical moments. There was also a wonderful personal tribute to the Greatest Ever Celt, Jock Stein by Jim Craig.

Celebrity hoops fans including Fran Healy of Travis, members of the band Texas, Tony Roper and Elaine C Smith also turned out in force to honour their team’s legends. Fran said ‘I’ve been looking forward to tonight for weeks. As a Celtic fan it’s absolutely brilliant to sit among so many heroes.’ Famous fans Billy Connolly and Rod Stewart were not able to attend but sent messages of congratulations to the winners.

Winners included – Murdo Macloud – Greatest Ever Old Firm Goal, Henrik Larsson – Greatest Ever Foreign Player and William McNeill MBE – Greatest Ever Captain

Ronnie Simpson, Danny McGrain, Tommy Gemmell, Bobby Murdoch, Billy McNeil, Bertie Auld, Jimmy Johnstone, Paul McStay, Kenny Dalglish, Henrick Larsson and Bobby Lennox.

There may have been some friendly disagreements over the results however everyone agreed on one thing - that this was an amazing evening celebrating Celtic’s greatest in all their glory.
