When Walter
Smith signed Paul Gascoigne
for Rangers he said Gazza had
come to win the club’s
eight, nine, then ten in a row.
They didn’t quite make
the ten but this period signified
a fantastic time for the club
and will probably go down as
the greatest era in Ibrox history.
This night
looked back at some of those
special memories including the
magnificent 3-1 hat-trick win
over Aberdeen in 1996 which
clinched the eight in a row.
The evening
included contributions from
many famous football names including
Walter Smith, Jack Charlton,
Trevor Stephen and Chick Young.
Paul said
of the night ‘The days
I spent in this city with Rangers
were some of the best of my
footballing life. Every direction
I look tonight I see familiar
faces and that’s the most
thrilling thing of all –
meeting my old mates.’
